Laser Tooth Whitening "FAQ"
Are Lasers Safe? |
|
Laser treatment has been clinically proven to be one of the safest procedures in
modern dentistry. When compared to conventional methods, dental lasers can
actually minimize the risk of damage to surrounding tissue. This is because
of the precision and control the laser allows the
laser dentists.
Furthermore, lasers produce an intense, narrow beam of light comprised of a
single wavelength. Conventional light sources are made up of a continuum of
light comprising the entire spectrum including infrared (heat) and
ultraviolet. As lasers are capable of producing the exact wavelengths
required, the same energy can be concentrated in the effected areas
producing less heat and consequently no damage to the surrounding tissue. As
the tooth is not heated no harm is done to the tooth vitality.
The system has been developed to ensure that that no harm is done to the enamel
and as the ph level is neutral it will not produce the kind of acidic side
effects which have been associated with other types of whitening products.
