MSC for Therapy
Mesenchymal stem cells show more promise for therapeutic application than any other stem cell except for ES.
There are several therapeutic applications for MSC in late stage clinical trials and many more under development.
Mesenchymal Stem Cell Treatment for Cerebral Palsy
MSC’s quickly and significantly improves recovery of motor function, within two weeks,
in an animal model for the ischemic brain injury that occurs in about 10 percent of babies with cerebral palsy.
Studies performed at the Medical College of Georgia.
First presented at the 34th annual meeting of the Child Neurology Society Sept. 28-Oct. 1, 2005 in Los Angeles

Mesenchymal Stem Cells treat Diabetes
Human adipose tissue-derived mesenchymal stem cells differentiate into insulin, somatostatin, and glucagon expressing cells.
Timper K, Seboek D, Eberhardt M, Linscheid P, Christ-Crain M, Keller U, Müller B, Zulewski H. Department of Research,
University Hospital, Basel, Switzerland. Biochem Biophys Res Commun. 2006 Mar 24;341(4):1135-40. PMID: 16460677
Findings : Mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) from mouse bone marrow were shown to adopt a pancreatic endocrine phenotype in vitro and to reverse diabetes in an animal model.
