Orthodontics is a great way to increase your self-confidence,
improve your dental health and create a beautiful smile you can share with everyone you meet.
Today, an innovative technology - "self-ligating" braces - makes orthodontic treatment less time
consuming and more comfortable than ever before.
The Damon System is now available from orthodontists all over the world.
A great Damon smile can enhance self-esteem and self-confidence at any age, plus improve overall oral health.
Many Damon patients see a noticeable change not only in their teeth, but in their entire face. That's because
Damon System treatment creates a beautiful, broad, natural smile, which provides stunning facial balance,
and creates a dynamic, more youthful look.

The combination of Damon™
Passive Self-Ligating Brackets
and low-friction, low-force mechanics has been shown to provide remarkable
advantages over traditional orthodontic approaches.
Thousands of
orthodontists throughout the world are now achieving results beyond
previously conceived expectations - in less time, with very few auxiliary
appliances and with far greater patient comfort.
The Damon System can help you deliver what patients want - beautiful smiles in less time with
less discomfort. The Damon System recognizes the unique
characteristics of each individual, yet provides a system that yields
superior results with far greater efficiencies than conventional appliances.
It Begins with Low Force
Research indicates that optimum orthodontic
forces should be just high enough to stimulate tooth movement
without cutting off the vascular supply to the periodontal
ligament.* The Damon System appliance is designed to allow the
clinician to use these optimum low forces throughout all phases of
treatment. This is only possible with a completely passive appliance
system. The Damon System facilitates healthy tooth movement with
complete control.
The Damon System now has
newly designed hooks for easy elastic ligation and superior
patient comfort.
Slide opens away from
the clinician, allowing clear visibility into the slot
during placement and when engaging the archwire prior to
closing the slide.
New precision MIM slide
with enhanced leading edge makes opening and closing easier
with more-consistent opening and closing forces.
New rounded contours are
equal to conventional bracket radii, ensuring greater
patient comfort.
Anatomically correct pad
contours that fit the facial surface of the tooth better
provide exceptional pad-to-tooth fit for easier placement
and fewer bond failures.
Slide is designed to
fully capture the archwire in the slot. When the
slide is closed, it forms a tube much like a molar
tube. The result is the same superior torque and
rotational control that is achieved with molar
tubes.

More Efficient Tooth Movement
Sliding
mechanics is usually considered only in terms of space closure, but
sliding mechanics comes into play in many other aspects of tooth
movement such as engaging high cuspids, correcting rotations and
leveling and aligning.
When moving a
high cuspid into position using traditional twin appliances, there
is a tendency for the lateral incisor and first bicuspid to move
superiorly while the cuspid moves into position.
With a passive
self-ligating system, like Damon, moving a cuspid into place does
not adversely effect the adjacent teeth (see example below).
Conventional ties such as O-rings and stainless steel
ligatures make using optimal forces impossible due to
friction and binding. Elastomeric O-rings will lose half
their elasticity within days of initial tie in, thus
compromising tooth control.
O-rings are extremely plaque retentive and greatly increase
the number of microorganisms attached to appliances during
treatment, increasing the incidence of decalcification
during treatment. Even
fluoride-releasing elastomerics lose almost 90% of their
fluoride protection in 2 weeks.

Quality Results with Greater Patient Comfort
Any treatment system must meet or exceed
expectations for the finished result. By using low forces that work
in conjunction with the muscles of the face, the Damon System
provides a greater variety of treatment options that in many cases
eliminate the need for high-force mechanics and extractions. Low
forces also mean greater patient comfort throughout treatment.
Treatment time :
14 months, 2 weeks in 7 treatment appointments without extractions
or the use of high-force expansion mechanics.
